STARTING WORKS AIMING TO MAINTAIN THE PROJECT EFFECT
On November 5, 2018, fieldwork began as part of the task entitled “Removal of undesirable vegetation in the area of well-preserved sandy grasslands and naturally valuable areas of the northern part of the Błędowska Desert,” which aims is to maintain the effects of the LIFE12NAT / PL / 000031 project.
The removal of seedlings of undesirable herbaceous plants, trees, and shrubs is carried out on points, using lightweight rubber crawler machines. Mechanical work is supported by manual labor. Unwanted plants are removed entirely – above-ground parts with roots
and rhizomes, without fragmentation. Particular attention is paid to the protected habitats of sandy grasslands.
Currently, the works cover an area of approximately 20 ha and will last until December 10, 2018. Next year’s works will be carried out on the surface for another 100 ha.
