Workshops “Principles of protection of the Natura 2000 areas – Błędowska Desert”.

The second of the five workshops prepared for representatives of military institutions and people administering the military areas, which are of particular environmental import_ance for the LIFE12 NAT/PL/000031 project entitled “Comprehensive protection of non-forest natural habitats in military areas under the framework of Natura 2000” – Błędowska Desert, funded under the LIFE + financial instrument from the European Union funds and from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management was held on the 28 October 2015.

The aim of the training was to familiarize the participants with the issues of nature and environmental protection in the military areas.

The person conducting the lectures was Dr Wojciech Mróz and the training was held in the form of workshops on the Błędowska Desert territory.

The thematic scope of the training concerned the protection principle of the Natura 2000 areas; methods of active protection of Natura 2000 areas in military areas; protection of grasslands natural habitats (sand grasslands, inland dunes) in practice; potential conflicts between the requirements of environmental protection and the exploitation of military sites; financing and implementation of projects in the field of nature protection.

Information on the LIFE12 NAT/PL/000031 project entitled “Comprehensive protection of non-forest natural habitats in military areas under the framework of Natura 2000”.

Basic information about the Natura 2000 European Ecological Network and its operation in Poland. Natura 2000 areas on military sites.

Administration of Natura 2000 areas – basic instruments, conditions for the preparation and implementation of plans of protection tasks.

Błędowska Desert PLH120014 – characteristics of the area, objects of protection, plan of protection tasks, conducted protective measures.

Methods of active protection of Natura 2000 areas on military sites. Protection of grasslands natural habitats (sand grasslands, inland dunes) in practice. Potential conflicts between the requirements of environmental protection and the exploitation of military sites. Financing and implementation of projects in the field of nature protection. Discussion.
